Canter Safari in Panna
What Is a Canter Safari?
A canter safari is a shared wildlife experience offered by the forest department. It is an open vehicle that can seat around 16 to 20 visitors, making it ideal for larger groups or travellers who did not get a jeep permit. A trained naturalist joins every ride to help you spot animals, understand bird calls, and learn about Panna’s forest and river ecosystem.
The canter follows selected routes inside the park, giving you a chance to see Panna’s rocky plateaus, teak forests, and open meadows. During this ride, you may spot leopards, sloth bears, deer, langurs, and many birds. Near the Ken River stretch, you can also see gharials and crocodiles resting on the sandy banks. The elevated seating of the canter offers wide views that are great for photography.
